That 9-5 job that’s making you so run down at night doesn’t always have to be like that. I have tried hard to practice the same couple tips each day to make myself more alert, awake, and energized.

[Tip #1]: After waking up in the morning, drink a full glass of room temperature water. The room temperature of the water helps our bodies rehydrate faster, as it is absorbed quicker. Your body also uses less energy when consuming room temperature water than it does when consuming cold water! Interesting, huh? Not only does this fill my stomach a bit so that I'm not eating a big breakfast, but it also gives me energy while I'm getting ready for work. I don't feel as groggy while commuting to work.
[Tip #2]: Always pack your breakfast, lunch, and a healthy snack the night before. This is one less thing you will have to remember when you wake up. In the mornings I snooze that alarm until the last possible minute when I need to get up and start getting ready. By having my meals all ready for the day, I know I just have to grab it, put it in my bag, and I'm out the door.

[Tip #3]: During your work day, make a challenge with yourself. If you have to sit for long periods of time, switch it up. Every 45 minutes to an hour, get up and walk around the office. Whether this is walking to the bathroom, or going to get a glass of water, this helps get the blood flowing again and keeps from your head falling onto the desk when the fatigue kicks in.
[Tip # 4]: Set small goals with yourself about the work that needs to get done. Once you get a good hour of work accomplished, go for that walk, and remind yourself that the work you are doing matters. Your presence at the office today is a blessing to yourself. Thank your mind for having the motivation and your heart for your dedication to being there each day.

[Tip #5]: After each work day, you may be at your lowest energy point. HOWEVER, the minute you walk through the doors, change into your workout clothes. By doing this, you are already changing your mindset into one that you are going to get a good sweat in. You and your body deserve the stretching and workout to get you re-energized for the next day.
I have found that these tips are keeping me focused and motivated to do my best work during the day. After a solid 2 weeks of consistently practicing these tips, you will find it easier to repeat them each day. After all, you are only making your life easier!
